Dengue logs record 21 daily deaths, 2352 hospitalized

21 more people died due to dengue in the last 24 hours, the highest number of fatalities by the Aedes-borne mosquito disease this year. Besides, 2,352 people were diagnosed with the deadly disease and hospitalized during the period.

With the new numbers, the death toll by dengue has climbed to 618 while the overall disease caseload increased to 127,694. Among these, 59,592 dengue patients were treated in various hospitals in Dhaka and 68,102 patients were treated outside Dhaka.

This was informed in a press release sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday (September 2).

DGHS press release states that among the new 2,352 dengue patients, 982 people have been admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 1,370 people are outside Dhaka.

Besides, out of the 21 new dengue deaths, 17 people died of dengue in Dhaka and the rest of the 4 died outside Dhaka.

The press release also said that at present, a total of 8,632 dengue patients are under treatment in various public and private hospitals in the country. There are currently 3,903 dengue patients admitted to Dhaka’s public and private hospitals and 4,729 dengue patients in other hospitals outside Dhaka.

This year, 127,694 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals and received treatment. Among them, 59,592 people have received treatment in Dhaka and 68,102 people outside Dhaka.

Among the affected, 118,844 dengue patients have recovered from hospitals and returned home. Out of this, 55,233 patients recovered in Dhaka and 63,211 patients recovered outside Dhaka and returned home.

Earlier this year, 19 people died in a single day due to dengue.
