Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Russia has the right to defend itself.

The Turkish president made the remarks at a press conference after the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Tuesday (November 19). Tass News reported.

Erdogan said, “I think that the permission Russia gave its military to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine on Tuesday is basically a preventive measure taken by Moscow against the attack on Russia with US weapons.”

Erdogan said, “I think that NATO officials should definitely consider this issue. Russia has the right and ability to defend itself.”

The Turkish president said, “NATO countries like us must also take the necessary steps to defend themselves.”

Erdogan said, “Russia and Ukraine are both Turkey’s neighbors. We must protect our bilateral relations with them.” I hope that we will be able to implement a definitive ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia as soon as possible and ensure the peace that the world is eagerly awaiting.

On Wednesday (November 20), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the missiles used by the West against Russia in Ukraine were not nuclear weapons.
