Israel’s use of internationally banned weapons in the Gaza war has not only killed Palestinians but also destroyed the productivity of Gaza’s agricultural land. This information was given by a Palestinian official.

Moyad Basharat, director of the Palestinian Agricultural Work Committee Union, told Anadolu news agency, “Israel has used several prohibited weapons in its attacks on Gaza. Such as white phosphorus, harmful bombs and missiles given by the US, which kill people and are also fatally harmful to crops.

He said such weapons could cause blindness, cancer, as well as amputations and skin burns in the future. He also warns that this substance can poison the soil and crops.

Basharat also said farmers directly exposed to these materials could be at risk of skin cancer or other respiratory diseases.

Basharat drew attention to the negative impact of Israel’s use of banned weapons on the people, animals and environment of Gaza.

He quoted some researchers as saying that lands contaminated with these substances may not be suitable for growing crops for three to five years. If so then its productivity will not be good.

A video shows Israeli bombs leaving holes more than 10 meters deep in the ground in Gaza, making it difficult to determine how much ground was burned. It is easy to guess that these crop lands are not suitable for production.
