Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has blamed globalization for the destruction of culture worldwide. He said that in order to preserve tradition, we need to build bridges between the past and the present.
Erdogan said this at an event organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with calligraphers, small artists, silk carpet weavers and other traditional craftsmen on November 27.
He said that globalization has basically brought about cultural decline. Whether in the name of money or ideology. The destination of uniformity is cultural sterility and polarization.
Erdogan believes that the West is inserting its own culture into other cultures in the name of globalization. As a result, the West is waging a global cultural aggression.
Erdogan said that the people of our country have a lot of ideas about European, American and Eastern songs. However, they do not even know the names of many of the country’s composers. This has happened due to the lack of proper policy formulation.
“When we see that young people know K-pop very well, but they are not familiar with (Turkish artists) Cem Karaca, Bari Manko, Neset Ertas, Kayahan and many other artists from this country, we are very worried and sad,” he said.
