A member has raised a question in the Indian Parliament, alleging an increase in violence against the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh, alleging human rights violations.

Ever since the fall of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a popular uprising, India has been complaining that Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh are being subjected to widespread atrocities and torture. Indian media outlets have also published exaggerated reports of hundreds of Hindu temples, houses, and businesses being burned.

In response to these, the chief advisor to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, also called on Indian journalists to come to Bangladesh and report on the ground. But despite this, their propaganda campaign has not stopped. Meanwhile, India has once again started running around on the minority issue after Chinmoy Krishna Das, the spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sanatani Jagran Mancha, was arrested on charges of sedition.

Amidst all this, a discussion was held in the country’s Parliament on Thursday about Bangladesh. According to NDTV, several MPs spoke about Bangladesh in the Lok Sabha. They asked whether there has been an increase in vandalism of Hindu temples and idols in Bangladesh. Has the Indian government raised this issue with the interim government in Bangladesh?

In response to these questions, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh told the Parliament that there have been reports of vandalism of Hindu temples and idols in Bangladesh in the last few months. The Indian government has expressed its concern in this regard. These include the attack on a puja mandap in Tanti Bazar and the theft of a gold crown from a Kali temple in Satkhira during Durga Puja. The Indian government has urged the Bangladesh government to ensure the security of places of worship of all minorities, including Hindus. In addition, India has told Bangladesh that the interim government is responsible for ensuring the security of all citizens of the country, including minorities.

Meanwhile, Indian media reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to discuss the arrest of Sanatani Jagran Manch spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das and the developments surrounding it. The two discussed alleged allegations of increased persecution of minorities.
