Yahya Sinwar, the political head of Hamas, has warned that the Palestinian independence organization will remain steadfast in defeating Israel.
He said this in a letter written to the head of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, on Friday.
Sinwar wrote this letter in response to the condolence message sent by Nasrallah after the martyrdom of former Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The letter has already reached the Hezbollah leader.
In the letter, Sinwar wrote, ‘We have received your humble message congratulating our two martyrs with great admiration and pride. You have condoled the loss of the nation on the martyrdom of Ismail Haniya, your partner in jihad and resistance.
Thanking Hassan Nasrallah, the Hamas chief wrote, ‘I pray to Almighty Allah for your sincere and noble sentiments of solidarity with the Axis of Resistance. May he protect you and your country from all harm’.
After attending the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Ismail Haniya was assassinated in a surprise attack on July 31 at a guesthouse in northern Tehran.
Referring to Haniya as a “symbol of the Palestinian nation”, Sinwar said her blood and the blood of other Palestinians will increase the strength and capacity of Hamas to fight the Nazi-Zionist occupation.
Sinwar added, “We also confirm that Hamas will remain steadfast in its loyalty to the blood of the martyrs, as it has always been, and remain steadfast in the high principles that martyred leader Haniya called for.”
This was Sinwar’s first public statement since becoming head of Hamas. In which he congratulated not only Nasrallah, but also Algerian President Abdelmadjid Teboun for his re-election.
