Indonesia to buy Indian Brahmos missiles

Indonesia may buy Brahmos supersonic cruise missiles from India. According to a report by German media Deutsche Welle, Indonesia has reached final talks to buy the $450 million missile from India.

According to the report, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited India last month on the occasion of India’s Republic Day. Prabowo Subianto met the CEO of Brahmos in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Along with this, a high-level delegation led by Indonesian Navy Chief Mulammad Ali visited the Brahmos Aerospace headquarters.

According to a report by Deutsche Welle, India-Russia have jointly developed this missile. Apart from South Asia, this missile has gained attraction in the Middle East countries.

The speed of this missile is faster than the speed of sound. Apart from warships, this missile can be successfully launched from submarines, aircraft and land.

The Times of India report said that India and Indonesia may soon finalize a deal for Brahmos missiles for $450 million.

Earlier, the Philippines had signed a deal to buy Brahmos missiles from India for $375 million. This was the first time that an Indian-made weapon was exported abroad.
