The two leaders spoke as Israeli television confirmed the country was nearing completion of a regional and international coalition to deter possible retaliatory attacks from Iran and Hezbollah.

Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniya was killed in a missile attack on a building in Tehran early Wednesday morning. At this time, one of his bodyguards was also killed. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country’s supreme religious leader, has ordered a direct attack on Israel in response to Haniya’s murder.

In view of this, Sweden and Slovenia have warned the citizens of their respective countries to visit Israel. Sweden’s foreign ministry said it was imposing travel restrictions to Israel and Palestine due to the “serious” security situation in the Middle East. Such steps have been taken as the situation there is feared to worsen.
In a post on social media, Sweden’s Prime Minister Wolf Kristerson said in a statement that from now on all types of travel to both countries are strictly advised. Slovenia’s foreign ministry also said on Thursday that due to the current “situation” in Israel, we advise against all travel for security reasons.

On the other hand, the killing of Haniya will not be useful in the Gaza ceasefire, said US President Joe Biden. In the briefing, reporters asked him whether the recent killing of Ismail Haniya would be helpful in advancing the cease-fire dialogue in Gaza. “No, it won’t help,” Biden replied.
