The Middle Eastern country of Kuwait lifted all restrictions on the recruitment of workers from abroad to eliminate the labor crisis and reduce the cost of hiring workers.

All restrictions on hiring foreign workers to reduce labor costs and labor shortages

Gulf News reports that Kuwait’s labor department has unanimously decided to cancel the previous system and the new rule will come into effect on June 1 this year.

As per the previous rules, labor recruitment companies had to recruit foreign workers from among the workers working or staying in Kuwait. Moreover, new foreign workers could be hired only for a certain part of the demand.

Due to the previous rules, the labor cost in the country has gone up a lot. Which has a negative impact on the consumer level as well. In such a situation, the Kuwaiti government has taken the initiative to remove all restrictions on the recruitment of foreign workers to reduce the labor cost and labor crisis.

Last year, the Kuwaiti government allowed workers in the private sector to have two jobs or part-time jobs at the same time. However, in case of second employment, the first and original employer’s permission is required. At present, part-time workers are allowed to work a maximum of four hours a day. However, due to the labor shortage in the country’s construction sector, workers in this sector were not given this opportunity to work two jobs at the same time.
