US President Donald Trump has said that Israel will hand over the Gaza Strip to the United States when the war is over. However, no US troops will be needed to occupy Gaza.
He made these remarks in a post on his own social media account, Truth, on Thursday.
The US president said that the Gaza Strip will be handed over from Israel to the United States at the end of the war. Before that, the Palestinians will be resettled in other Arab regions, which are safer and more beautiful, new and modern homes.
However, he also stated that US troops will not be needed to take control of Gaza and that stability will be established in the region (Middle East).
Earlier, Trump did not completely deny sending US troops to Gaza, but this time he clarified his plans for the valley.
Earlier this week, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United States, Trump announced at a press conference that the United States would control the Gaza Strip.
Then Trump said, “We will take ownership of Gaza.”
Trump’s announcement immediately surprised those present at the press conference.
However, he did not elaborate on how the United States would move more than two million Palestinians out of Gaza or control the war-torn territory.
The Trump administration on Wednesday backed down from Trump’s decision, facing strong criticism from Palestinians, Arab governments and world leaders.
Trump’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the idea was not hostile and the White House had no intention of sending US troops to Gaza.
