An Israeli brigade commander and cousin of radical minister Smotrich was killed in an attack by Palestinian resistance fighters Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
According to Israel’s admission, a total of 248 occupation soldiers were killed in the ground invasion of Gaza. However, Hamas claims that the actual death toll is much higher.
Major Amisher Ben David was killed in clashes in southern Gaza on Friday, the Israeli army said in an announcement Saturday night. The 43-year-old occupying army officer was the commander of Israel’s ‘Oz’ commando brigade. Another army officer was seriously injured in the same clash and was admitted to an Israeli hospital.
Bezalal Smotrich, the radical finance minister of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s cabinet, said in a post on his X page that the deceased Major Amisher is his own cousin. He shared a photo of himself with the slain soldier last summer, writing that he grew up with Amisher and had a close relationship with him.
The slain Israeli army commander was a resident of ‘Eli’, a Jewish settlement built on the West Bank of the Jordan River by forcibly occupying Palestinian land. Eli’s mayor, Ariel Elmaliach, responded to the news of his death on Saturday. Amisher was reportedly killed by a stab wound to his chest, he wrote. He attended a military academy with Amisher.
An acquaintance of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s brother was killed earlier in the Gaza Strip invasion. Then the son of a former Israeli army chief was killed. Recently, the finance minister’s cousin was killed.
