The holy month of Ramadan is starting. However, this year’s Ramadan, the picture of Gaza under the Palestinian blockade is going to be different. Because in such a situation, the residents of the valley are preparing for Ramadan, while Israel continues to attack them indiscriminately. Palestinians are preparing for Ramadan with the death warrant in mind.

Starting from October 7, the Israeli forces have been attacking Gaza for almost six months. The Gaza Health Ministry said on Sunday (March 10) that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 31,000 due to Israeli attacks. More than 72 thousand people were injured.

In addition to casualties, hunger has also plagued Gazans in the run-up to Ramadan. At least 25 people have died of starvation in the valley since October 7, local authorities said. The UN’s Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA says the situation in northern Gaza is dire. Relief is not being provided by road. And as Ramadan approaches, so does the loss of life.

According to information provided by the Palestinian Authority, more than 1,000 mosques have been destroyed by Israeli attacks in Gaza since the beginning of the ongoing conflict. However, the locals said that they will continue to pray in this situation during Ramadan.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has given a message of solidarity with the people of Gaza ahead of Ramadan. he said,
Ramadan highlights the values of peace, tolerance and generosity. I extend my solidarity and support to all those in Gaza who are in dire straits. Ramadan will show us the light of hope in this difficult time.

A ceasefire in Gaza around Ramadan was a possibility and talks were held in Cairo, the Egyptian capital. But that negotiation failed. As a result, it is almost certain that Israeli brutality does not stop even during Ramadan. However, the Palestinians want to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan with religious solemnity by facing all the situations with heroism.

Meanwhile, the Ramadan moon was sighted in Palestine. Along with Saudi Arabia and some other Arab countries, fasting is starting from Monday (March 11) in the country.

On Sunday (March 10) evening, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestinian Territory, Chairman of the Supreme Fatwa Council, Sheikh Muhammad Hussain, announced that the holy month of Ramadan will begin in Palestine from Monday.

Devout Muslims around the world welcome Ramadan amid Israeli massacres in Gaza. The countries which have already announced the start of fasting are Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain, Syria, Jordan and Yemen. In addition, the date of the start of fasting in the United States and Canada is also known.
