Israel’s genocide in Gaza, the countries that provide weapons

Occupier Israel has been carrying out brutal attacks and massacres in the besieged Gaza Strip of Palestine since October 7 last year. Their relentless attacks have killed 33,482 Palestinians so far. Meanwhile, seven workers of World Central Kitchen, an international relief organization, were killed in an Israeli attack on Gaza last week. After that incident, international pressure increased on the allied countries to stop supplying arms to Israel. However, ignoring that pressure, several countries, including the United States, are still supplying Israel with weapons.

However, US President Joe Biden has said that if Israel does not stop killing civilians in Gaza, it will impose conditions on the supply of weapons. Many US lawmakers have supported Biden’s position. However, it is difficult to say how long this position of the United States will last.

Countries that provide arms to Israel

Israel’s biggest donor is the United States. America has more sympathy for the country than any other country. As a result, it can be naturally assumed that the United States is the largest supplier of weapons to Israel.

Of the foreign arms imports to Israel, the United States supplies the most—68 percent. Germany is the second largest arms supplier to Israel. Germany supplies 30 percent of the country’s total demand to Israel.

Among other countries, the UK, Italy and Australia are among Israel’s top arms suppliers. However, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong recently claimed that her country has not provided any weapons to Israel since the Gaza war began.

Countries that have stopped supplying Israel with weapons

Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Spain and Belgium have announced they will no longer sell arms to Israel. The name of another European country, Denmark, can be added to this list. A case related to this is ongoing in the country’s court.

The subject of the ongoing case in the Danish court is that the Danish government will not sell parts of the F-35 series of fighter jets to the United States. Because the United States makes warplanes with the help of those parts and supplies them to Israel.

Interestingly, the United States has provided so much direct and technical assistance to Israel that the country itself is now one of the largest exporters of arms and other military equipment. In 2019, the US alone bought $1.5 billion worth of weapons or military equipment from Israel.

But even with the US buying from Israel, the country is still Tel Aviv’s single biggest dependency. Because, since the start of the Israeli invasion of Gaza, the country has provided arms support to Tel Aviv on several occasions. These weapons range from bombs to firearms and even fighter jets.
