A United Nations official has gravely warned of a repeat of Gaza-like disasters in the West Bank due to Israel’s ongoing aggression.

Francesca Albanizzi, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, gave this warning on Tuesday.

Expressing deep concern over Israel’s ongoing aggression, he said there is a risk of the violent conflict in Gaza spreading to the West Bank. This will make the situation even more difficult for the Palestinians in the territories already occupied by Israel.

Albanizi said Israel’s genocidal violence risks spilling out of Gaza and into other parts of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. And creating this situation is part of a larger Israeli strategy.

He said that occupying and belligerent Israel is simultaneously targeting Gaza and the West Bank. which is part of an overall elimination, replacement and territorial expansion process.

Warning the international community in this regard, Albanizi said, in view of the concession that the international community has been giving to Israel for a long time, Israel is enabling the occupied territories to be freed from Palestinians.

As a result, Palestinians are increasingly at risk, he said firmly, “Palestinians are now at the mercy of a power that is trying to eradicate them as a national group”.

The UN official’s remarks came as Israeli violence escalated in both Gaza and the West Bank.

About 41,000 Palestinians have been killed since the Israeli invasion of Gaza began on October 7. Most of them are women and children.

At the same time, Israeli military operations in the West Bank have also killed and injured hundreds of Palestinians. Which has added to the rising death toll of the conflict.

Earlier in August, Albanizi announced that Israel’s crimes had been documented in detail. Along with that, he also called to punish Netanyahu’s government.

He called on the international community to take stronger action against Israel’s policies and warned that the situation for the Palestinians would continue to deteriorate without Israeli intervention.

After Gaza, the situation in the now-occupied West Bank remains tense. There are fears that the violence seen in Gaza could be reflected in other parts of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Despite the latest warning from the international community, no response has been received yet.

However, Israel’s ongoing aggression raises urgent questions about the future of the Palestinian people and the prospects for peace in the region.
