BBC journalists witnessed the Israeli air attack on the coastal city of Tire in southern Lebanon. The city, usually full of tourists, is now almost deserted.
BBC correspondent Orla Guarin said that the tire environment has now completely changed. Where there used to be crowds of tourists, there are now only people escaping from the surrounding towns. Those who came here to save their lives from intense Israeli air strikes.
The BBC says Israel is launching a massive offensive in Lebanon as Hezbollah fires missiles at Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, in the context of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, both the United States and France have proposed a cease-fire at the United Nations to end the conflict, but Israel has not responded to the proposal and announced that it will continue to escalate its attacks.
According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, at least 620 people have been killed and more than 2,000 injured in the ongoing attacks since September 23.
In addition, the southern part of Lebanon, especially the border towns, are suffering heavy losses as a result of the Israeli attack. About 500,000 people have been forced to flee their homes. Sources: BBC and Al-Jazeera
