Recently, Israel claims that the head of the Izzaddin Al-Qassam Brigade, the military wing of the Palestinian independence organization Hamas, Mohammad Deif, has been killed. However, their claim was directly rejected by the Palestinian resistance organization.

Osama Hamdan, the representative of Hamas in Lebanon and a member of the Politburo, gave this information in an interview to the AP news agency on Thursday.

He said that the claims made by Israeli officials and the media about the killing of Mohammad Deif are false. Rather, the chief commander of the military wing is fine and healthy.

Earlier on August 1, Israel claimed that a top Palestinian commander had been killed in an airstrike last month. Despite their long silence regarding this claim, this is the first time a senior Hamas official has spoken about the Israeli claim.

Osama Hamdan told the AP that Hamas believes the July attack was directed at Deif to “justify” the “massacre” Israel carried out that day (August 1). 88 Palestinians lost their lives in the Israeli attack on Khan Younis. Besides, 289 others were injured.

Hamas established the Al-Qassam Brigades in the 1990s. Mohammad Deif was one of the founders there. He has been leading the military wing of the force for more than 20 years.
