
Nawaz urges Shehbaz to prioritize Pakistan’s interests

Pakistan’s opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is holding talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has urged Prime Minister Shehbaz to give top priority to national interests in these talks.
A statement from the ruling party on Sunday said that Shehbaz Sharif briefed the former prime minister and his elder brother Nawaz Sharif about the process of the talks, the current political and economic situation of the country and other important issues.
According to Express News, the meeting was held at Jati Umra, where Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was also present. In the two-hour meeting, Nawaz Sharif stressed the need for national unity in the current situation. He said, ‘We all have to work together for the country.’
Regarding the talks with PTI, Nawaz Sharif told Shehbaz Sharif, ‘The interests of the country must be kept above everything else in the talks.’
A statement from the pro-Nawaz Muslim League said that important political and national issues were discussed in the meeting. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif briefed Nawaz Sharif about the political and economic situation of the country and consulted him on important issues.
During the talks, the top leadership of the pro-Nawaz Muslim League was informed that the government’s efforts to solve the country’s economic problems have been fruitful and inflation has significantly reduced. The situation is moving in a positive direction, the statement said.
It also mentioned that Nawaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the government’s steps to reduce inflation and efforts to provide relief to the people. He said, “The PML-N government will continue to serve the people.”
The PTI’s demands, which were presented to the government during the third round of talks last week, were also considered in this important meeting. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif briefed the party leadership on the latest status of the talks.
