North Korea test-fired hypersonic missile. The latest weapon tested was a medium-to-long-range hypersonic missile. The missile was launched in the presence of the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un.

A day after the missile was tested, state news agency KCNA said the test launch of a new medium-to-long-range hypersonic missile of strategic military importance was successfully completed.
After the missile launch, Kim said North Korea had now “achieved the capability to develop a strategic missile that is solid-fueled and capable of carrying nuclear warheads.”
Seoul’s military said the missile, launched early Tuesday, traveled about 600 kilometers (370 miles) and landed in waters between South Korea and Japan. KCNA reported that the missile is capable of crossing a distance of 1000 km.
Pyongyang’s latest missile launch came less than two weeks after Kim oversaw the testing of a solid-fuel engine for a medium-range hypersonic missile.
