Three Israelis have leaked information about the torture of Palestinians detained by the Israeli army during the invasion of Gaza. They each highlighted the torture of Palestinian prisoners at the Said Teiman Desert Camp in Israel’s Negev Desert, 18 miles from Gaza. CNN reported this information on Friday.

One of the three Israelis told CNN that the Israeli army blindfolded Palestinian prisoners and forced them to wear diapers. He has seen such torture himself.

Palestinian prisoners are not allowed to move, he said. They were kept upright. No talking is allowed. As soon as they spoke, the prison guards shouted at the prisoners to ‘shut up’. Those who still tried to speak, were captured and tortured. Prisoners are not allowed to peek, even blindfolded. Those guarding the prisoners were ordered to maintain silence by yelling. Besides, the guards were also given the responsibility of identifying those who did not follow the instructions.

They presented a picture of the prison, where the hands of inmates injured by constant handcuffing were sometimes amputated. And this work was done by unskilled technicians.

Three Israelis said the Said Teiman desert camp was located 18 miles from Gaza. It is divided into two parts. In one of these, 70 Palestinian prisoners are being held in appalling conditions. Their movement is very less. There is also a field hospital there. There, Palestinian prisoners are tied to beds in diapers and fed through pipes.

A person who worked at the hospital said that everything that can claim to be human is taken away from the prisoners. He said, they are not treated like this to retrieve information. Rather, it is done to them out of anger and revenge addiction. They were treated like this in retaliation for the October 7 attack on Israel.

On October 7, the Israeli army launched an attack on Gaza after Hamas fighters attacked southern Israel. Three military installations were turned into detention camps to house Palestinian prisoners in Gaza.

The Israeli army, known as the Israel Defense Force (IDF), has rejected these allegations of CNN’s report. In a statement, the IDF told CNN that the appropriate treatment of captive hostages is ensured at all times.

Any complaints against IDF soldiers will be investigated and action will be taken according to law. It also said that prisoners are handcuffed based on their health status and level of risk. The authorities do not know any information about handcuffing in that prison.

The IDF did not directly deny allegations that detainees were stripped of their clothing and placed in diapers. Instead, they said, when the IDF deems there is no risk, prisoners’ clothing is returned.
