
Prof Yunus unveils ‘3 Zero’ theory for post-MDG era

Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus unveiled a ‘Three Zero’ theory to improve human lives in the world in the post-MDG (Millennium Development Goals) regime after the year 2015.
“We should move ahead with three goals—Zero poverty, Zero unemployment and Zero net carbon (CO2) emission—-to achieve the vision of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) to improve human lives,” Yunus said on the occasion of celebration of Sixth Social Business Day in Dhaka on Thursday.
He said the world has four superpowers instrumental to attain 3 zeros.
The superpowers are a big young population, technology, social business and good governance. “We can easily achieve 3 Zeros’ with the help of these four Superpowers.”
He said the next big problems before the world habitats are food shortage and pollution.
“What will be the use of population if there is not food and the earth is polluted,” a surprised Yunus said called upon the youth community to re-design their thoughts.
He said the world has a very big community of young people and they can make the world liveable.
Yunus centre organized the Sixth Social Business Day 2015 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre with a focus on Youth unemployment. The theme of this year’s Day was “We Are Not Job-Seekers, We Are Job-Givers.”
The event was hosted by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus and attended by more than 1600 participants, among them over 250 international speakers and participants from around 30 countries.
While speaking on the theme as key-note speaker, Noble Laureate Yunus has focused on exploring the entrepreneurship capability of every youth to generate employment for others.
The Noble Laureate also called upon the young people of the entire world to exploit respective entrepreneurship capability for own welfare and for the well-being of others.
He said technology now in hands of young people who can start social business and save the world for a longer period for humans.
