Photos of 3 Israeli soldiers killed in Gaza released

The Israeli army announced that three more soldiers were killed in the battle with Hamas in the besieged Gaza Strip. Along with that, their pictures have also been published.

The Israeli military said on Saturday that three of its soldiers were killed in two separate incidents in Gaza a day earlier.

In a statement, the Israeli army said two of its soldiers were killed by an improvised explosive device in a building near Zeitun in Gaza City. Another soldier was killed in clashes with Palestinian fighters in the Netzerim corridor.

According to the Israeli army, a total of 338 soldiers have been killed since the ground operation in Gaza began in mid-October last year.

However, Hamas says that this number is much higher. Because of growing public discontent over the Israeli cabinet’s handling of the war and its failure to release the dozens of Jews still held in Gaza, the Israeli government is concealing the true number of its military casualties.

Protests have been ongoing in Israel for the past few months against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet demanding the release of prisoners and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Netanyahu, however, is adamant about war. Critics say he is prolonging the war to achieve his own political ends amid allegations of corruption.

Netanyahu now faces trial on charges of corruption, fraud, bribery and breach of trust in a case filed in 2019. Netanyahu could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted of bribery.
