Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed by a short-range missile.

In a statement, the IRGC said, “He was killed by a short-range missile attack with a warhead of about 7 kg and a huge explosion from outside his house.”

“The act of killing Haniya was premeditated by the barbaric Israeli regime and carried out with the full support of the US government,” it said.

In a statement stating that Haniya’s blood would be avenged, the IRGC stressed that the terrorist Israeli government must face severe punishment at the appropriate time and place.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hamas leader Ismail Haniya was killed in his residence along with his bodyguards in an Israeli attack in Tehran.

Haniya was later buried after the first funeral in Tehran on Thursday and after the funeral and tributes in Doha, Qatar on Friday. Both his funerals were attended by large crowds.
