Saudi Arabia announces the construction of the first theme park

Saudi Arabia has announced the construction of a theme park based on the story of the famous Japanese comic series ‘Dragon Ball’.
A 70 meter high dragon will be built in the middle of the park. There will be at least 30 rides, the BBC reported, citing the firm in charge of the project.
A park based on a popular media franchise is set to be built in Saudi Arabia for the first time, which is expected to be a center of attraction around the world.
Saudi Arabia’s announcement is also being criticized. Critics point to the country’s poor human rights record.
Kiddia Investment Company (QIC) is handling all aspects of the project. The company is fully owned by Saudi Arabian government invested funds.
The park will be built on an area of more than 5 lakh square meters, said QIC.
Kiddiya is a huge entertainment and tourism project built near Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The Kiddiya project is part of a plan by Saudi Arabia, an oil-rich country in the Middle East, to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on oil.
Many Dragon Ball fans welcomed this plan to build a theme park. However, some on social media have questioned the reasons for choosing Saudi Arabia as the location for the park.
Akira Toriyama, the creator of the comic series, died just days before the Dragon Ball theme park was announced. He died last March 1, aged 68.
The comic series ‘The Dragon Ball’ started in 1984. In its story, a boy named Son Goku goes in search of the magical Dragon Ball. Balls that can give him super powers. One of the most influential and best-selling comic series in Japan is Dragon Ball.
