Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that it is very important to avoid a possible war between Iran and Israel. Everyone must take initiatives to prevent such a conflict to maintain stability in the Middle East.
The Dawn reported this in a report on Tuesday (January 21).
Prince Faisal also said that the new administration of US President Donald Trump will not increase the risk of war in the region. On the contrary, the Trump administration has taken a stand against conflict. He hopes for positive progress on the nuclear program through US diplomatic talks with Iran.
A Reuters report mentioned that Prince Faisal expressed hope that the new Trump administration’s Iran policy would be constructive and that Tehran would respond positively to that policy. In particular, he called for cooperation between the United States and Iran on holding a dialogue on Iran’s nuclear program.
He said, “Any war between Iran and Israel, or any kind of war in our region, must be avoided.”
The Saudi foreign minister said, “The Trump administration is not interested in direct conflict. I do not think the new US administration will increase the risk of war. Rather, President Trump has made it clear that he does not want conflict.”
Analysts believe that Prince Faisal’s comments highlight Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic stance in dealing with the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
