The International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday. Netanyahu strongly opposed the decision.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said that the ruling has no significance. He claimed that it was an anti-Semitic ruling.

The International Criminal Court also issued the same warrant against former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant today. Arrest warrants have been issued against several leaders, including Hamas military chief Homammed Deif. This means that any country can arrest these people.

The three-judge bench of the International Criminal Court made this decision on Thursday while giving its verdict on the way the ‘massacre’ was carried out in Gaza.

Former Israeli Defense Minister Gallant said that this trial by the Hague court will remain in the memory. This ruling has put the state of Israel and the murderous Hamas leaders on the same seat. The verdict supports Hamas’ violence. The way they killed children, tortured women, and dragged the elderly out of their beds was supported by this verdict.

Gallant said that the verdict did not respect the right to self-defense.

Canada in favor of the verdict

Canada is obligated to abide by international law and will respect this verdict, said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He said this in a television interview.

In response to a question, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau said that he would respect the verdict of the International Court of Justice.

A UK spokesman said that they also respect international law and the court. However, it was not clear whether the UK would accept Netanyahu’s arrest warrant.

EU expresses responsibility

European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Josep Borrell reminded the heads of the 27 EU countries that they are obligated to abide by the verdict of the International Court of Justice. Borrell made this comment after the International Court of Justice’s verdict was announced.

Meanwhile, in this situation, a US official arrived in Israel with a proposal for a ceasefire with Hezbollah. There have been talks about a ceasefire before; but it has repeatedly collapsed.

The US has not yet expressed its clear opinion on the International Criminal Court’s verdict.
