
Security forces raid in Chhattisgarh, 20 Maoists killed

At least 20 Maoist rebels have been killed in a gunfight in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh during a security operation. Home Minister Amit Shah has called the operation by the security forces against the Maoist rebels a major success.
They were killed in a gunfight in the state’s Gariaband district on Monday night, Chhattisgarh police said. Senior Maoist leader Jairam Reddy, also known as Chalapati, was also killed in the security forces’ firing.
This Maoist leader was shot dead in a forest on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border. The Indian law enforcement agencies had announced a price of Rs 1 crore on the head of Maoist leader Jairam Reddy.
