
New Jersey General Assembly Honors Bangladeshi Journalist Karamot Ullah Biplob

Paterson, NJ : The New Jersey General Assembly has honored Bangladeshi journalist Karamot Ullah Biplob for his reporting and research on climate change. On Monday, January 20, 2024, in Paterson City, Senator Benjie E. Wimberly presented Mr. Biplob with the award.
A report written by General Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin cited the impact of climate change in South Asian countries and Mr. Biplob’s work regarding displaced people as key examples. Senator Wimberly stated that not only South Asia, but also many developed countries in Europe and America are at significant risk due to climate change.
He also affirmed the New Jersey General Assembly’s support for public welfare journalism. Asian Post USA Publisher Enam Chowdhury and Channel 52 USA Director Chowdhury Hasin Farah attended the award ceremony.
Mr. Biplob, Secretary General of the South Asian Climate Change Journalist Forum (SACCJF), has been working in various U.S. states for approximately two months as part of a climate-related fellowship. His fellowship focuses on researching and investigating future plans for rehabilitating people affected by natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, blizzards, and fires.
Last month, Mr. Biplob, a renowned climate journalist, also received special recognition from New York State in Buffalo.
