After Saudi Arabia, Syrian Foreign Minister Asad Hassan al-Shaibani will visit three more countries in the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Jordan, to help rebuild Syria. He officially completed his first foreign trip to Saudi Arabia earlier this week.
The Syrian diplomat said in a social media post on Friday (January 3) that he is willing to build good relations with Middle Eastern countries to rebuild a stable, secure and economically self-sufficient Syria.
According to local media sources, wealthy Gulf states are also interested in investing in helping the new government formed by the rebels in Syria rebuild the country’s infrastructure and boost the economy.
Saudi Arabia is already playing a major role in the country’s revival. A Saudi delegation carrying humanitarian aid and relief supplies left for Damascus on Friday at the behest of the country’s ruler, King Salman. He was even seen discussing humanitarian and medical cooperation with Syrian Health Minister Maher al-Shara, according to the SANA news agency.
