Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban government is ready for dialogue with Russia. Abdul Umari, acting minister of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Taliban, said this.
Iran’s Meher News reported that Umari expressed his interest in dialogue to improve relations with Russia in a special interview with the Russian news agency Tass on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
In response to a question from Taser, Umari said, “We want good relations with Russia.” We are interested in increasing the scope of relations with them.
Appreciating Russia’s interest in removing the Taliban from the list of ‘prohibited organizations’, the Taliban leader added, “We welcome Russia’s interest in removing (the Taliban) from the list of banned organizations.”
Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the country’s foreign ministry, told TASS that Russia is considering removing the Taliban from the list of banned organizations. He mentioned that this step is necessary for dialogue with Taliban and fight against terrorism.
It should be noted that after the United States left Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban overthrew the then government of the country and seized power.
