As a result, 37-year-old Petang Tarn is going to lead Thailand as the youngest prime minister.

Earlier on Wednesday, Thailand’s Constitutional Court removed Sretha Thavisin as prime minister and dissolved the cabinet. After that new political uncertainty was created in the country. In the last 24 hours there was a lot of discussion among political figures to clear that uncertainty. Finally it was decided to nominate the 37-year-old Petangtarn as the prime ministerial candidate.

Petang Tarn’s father, Thaksin Shinawatra, was ousted in a military coup in 2006. But still his influence in the country remained.

Patriarchy also has a strong influence in Thailand. Petangtarn becomes the fourth person in his family to become Prime Minister. In addition to father Thaksin Shinawatra, Somachai Wongswat and uncle Yingluck Shinawatra were Prime Ministers from his family.

Somachai Ongswat for a few days in 2008; And Yingluck Shinawatra served as Prime Minister from 2011 to 2014. But both were forced to leave the Prime Ministership under pressure.

Besides, Petangtarn is going to be the second female Prime Minister of Thailand after Yingluck Shinawatra. He needed the support of 247 out of 493 members of Parliament to become Prime Minister, which he got.

Petangtarn had never held any government office before. He is going to take charge of the prime minister at a time when political instability is going on in the country.

Thaksin Shinawatra returned to the country last year after spending 15 years in exile abroad. However, he has to come to an agreement with the country’s army. Which many voters of the country took as dishonest with themselves.
