Pakistan has announced that it will continue to attack Afghanistan as part of a new military campaign against terrorism. BBC reported this information in a report on Tuesday (July 2).

Senior Pakistani officials had acknowledged such an attack in the neighboring country in March this year. Afghanistan’s Taliban government described the attack as a violation of its sovereignty.

The country’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that these airstrikes are being carried out against terrorist groups that Islamabad has been accusing of targeting Pakistani security forces and civilians.

Khawaja Asif also said that we are continuing operations in Afghanistan and we will continue to do so. If we are attacked, we will attack back.

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have been on the rise since the Taliban took control of the country in 2021. Pakistan alleges that a Taliban group called the Pakistani Taliban, or TTP, has a sanctuary in Afghanistan.
