The Bahamas recognized the state of Palestine

The North African country of Bahamas has officially recognized Palestine as a state. Several states have recognized Palestine in recent weeks. They also joined this list as the last state.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it had joined the “Caribbean Community Consensus on this matter”.

“The Bahamas became an independent nation in 1973 through an Act of Self-Determination,” the statement said. Therefore, The Bahamas supports the Palestinian people’s legal right to self-determination.

Incidentally, last week, the government of Trinidad and Tobago announced that it was officially recognizing the State of Palestine. Meanwhile, at the end of May, several European Union countries will recognize Palestine as an independent state, according to Al Jazeera.
