The Israel-Hezbollah conflict is raising fears of a wider war

In addition to the Hamas-Israel war in Gaza, the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in southern Lebanon raises the prospect of a larger war.

A report by Al Jazeera on Wednesday claimed this.

The report quoted a Hezbollah source as saying, “What is understood so far is that US Ambassador Hochstein brought a message from the Israelis and that message was essentially a threat.” And that is – Israel is seriously considering expanding this war and time is running out.

The US Ambassador made this statement to the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri. And Nabih Berry is basically a close ally of Hezbollah. Since the United States does not negotiate directly with Hezbollah, Nabih Berri sent the message to the Lebanese armed group.

And the response was that drone footage of Hezbollah.

Hezbollah recently captured and released video footage of sensitive military and civilian installations in Haifa, Israel’s third largest city, via drones. This was a message not only to Israel’s political and military establishment, but also to the public that Hezbollah was capable of striking Haifa and that sensitive installations there were within their reach.

It’s really a deterrence message, because it’s trying to send the message to the Israelis that, ‘We can strike military and civilian installations on your territory at will’.

Also, Hezbollah sources are clear that this is not a coincidence and Hezbollah chose Haifa because it is about 28 kilometers from the Lebanese border.
