The Prime Minister of Singapore is leaving power after two decades

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong (72) is finally resigning after two decades in power. He is resigning on May 15. On Monday, Tsien said he would hand over the premiership to his deputy, Lawrence Wong, after resigning.

Through this, a new era is going to begin under the leadership of the Southeast Asian island nation. At the same time, Hsien Loong’s 20-year rule was coming to an end.

Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, 51, also serves as the country’s finance minister, Bloomberg and Nikkei Asia reported.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said Lawrence Wong has the unanimous support of ruling party lawmakers.
