This time, the Arab Emirates was covered in thick fog
Heavy fog has appeared over a large part of the United Arab Emirates without overcoming the flood damage. Residents of the country’s capital Abu Dhabi and the border town of Al Ain with Oman have been advised to take extra precautions while driving.
In a report, Gulf News reported that the country’s meteorologists advised motorists in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to drive slowly and carefully. At the same time, ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued in both the cities due to thick fog.
The UAE’s National Center of Meteorology reported fog on the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain highway from Rema to Al-Khajna area on Wednesday morning. Motorists are urged to drive carefully as visibility is reduced due to dense fog.
Last week saw the heaviest rainfall in the UAE’s 75-year history, according to official data. The country’s highways, including the Dubai International Airport, were closed due to rains that started in the early hours of Monday last week. At that time, one person died in the country. Two others later died due to lack of fresh air trapped in cars due to flooding.
In addition, 19 people died due to continuous rain for several days in neighboring Oman. Among the dead were 12 school students who were swept away in a car by the flood. Apart from this, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia also received rain at that time.
