Five people were killed and 33 injured when a tornado struck the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
The country’s state-run news agency Xinhua reported the news Saturday night, citing local authorities.
The tornado left a trail of destruction in the Beian area of Guangzhou on Saturday afternoon local time. 141 factory buildings were damaged in its rampage. However, no residential buildings were damaged.
Rescue personnel from the city’s emergency department have been dispatched to the scene. Among them are health workers. The search and rescue operation has already been completed.
Another tornado in China’s Jiangsu Province last year killed 10 people, Reuters reported.
