Turkey’s cabinet reshuffle

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s cabinet has been reshuffled. The reshuffle was announced after Erdogan appointed two ministers on Tuesday (July 2) morning.

According to the report of Daily Sabah, their inauguration ceremony may be held on Tuesday afternoon. A Cabinet meeting will also be held at the same time.

According to the Turkish Government Gazette, Murat Kurum has been appointed as Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. He will replace Mehmet Ozaseki. Mehmet recently resigned from this position citing health reasons.

Professor Kamal Memeolu has been appointed as the Minister of Health. He served as the head of Istanbul Health Department.

A cabinet reshuffle was announced shortly after Mehmet’s resignation was announced. However, Murat Kurum served as the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change before Mehmet. He served as minister from 2018 to 2023. In addition, he was also the candidate of the ruling Justice and Development Party for the position of mayor of Istanbul in the recent municipal elections.
