The United States is selling a large number of missiles to its long-time ally Japan. On Friday, the US government approved the sale of missiles worth $3.6 billion to Japan.
Washington said that under the deal, Japan will buy more than 1,200 sophisticated air-to-air missiles and necessary equipment. The US State Department has approved the proposal to sell the missiles.
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in a statement that the United States has taken this initiative to achieve its foreign and national security goals by strengthening security, political stability and economic progress in the Asia-Pacific region.
