Hana Al Omair initially started her career in journalism. In 2006, he began writing film reviews for newspaper publications. His film reviews were published in Al-Awsat and Al-Riyad dailies.
At some point, Hana Al Omair started writing film scripts. His script “Hadaf” won the best script award at the Saudi Film Competition in 2008. His second short film “The Complaint” won the Best Short Fiction Film Award at the 2015 Saudi Film Competition.
Hana Al Omair’s latest short film Swan Song (2019) won the Golden Palm Tree Award for Best Actor at the Saudi Film Festival.
Hana Al Omair is working tirelessly to develop the film industry in Saudi Arabia. Currently, he is serving as the chairman of the Saudi Cinema Association.
It should be noted that the film industry is seen as an emerging market in Saudi Arabia. Cinema halls reopened in Saudi Arabia in 2018 after being closed for almost three years. After that, the number of halls started to increase. Currently there are 66 cinema halls in the country. Saudi Arabia recently celebrated 6 years of opening cinema halls. And during this period, the Saudi revenue department earned about 1 billion dollars from the big screen.
