25 soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack in Pakistan

Seven soldiers were killed and 18 injured when gunmen attacked a paramilitary checkpoint in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province.

The attack took place in the mountainous region of Kalat district, about 150 km south of Quetta, provincial police official Habib-ur-Rehman said on Saturday. Which starts early in the morning and continues for several hours.

Some of the injured 18 soldiers are in critical condition and have been admitted to local hospitals.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. In an email message, they said their members carried out the attack on a paramilitary checkpoint.

Recently the group has expanded its operations in Pakistan. Last week they carried out a suicide bombing at a railway station. Where Pakistani Army personnel are targeted. 27 people were killed in this attack, including 19 army personnel. They were basically preparing to go home on vacation.

Also, two Chinese engineers were killed in another suicide bombing outside the Karachi International Airport last month.

The BLA and other groups have been fighting for decades to demand a greater share in the natural and mineral resources of Balochistan province. The region is important for the Gwadar Port, which is being developed as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It is part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) investment of $65 billion.
