There is a lot of tension between China and the Philippines. And this tension seems to have been further fueled by the United States. The country announced $500 million to the Philippines as part of its military aid.
Al Jazeera reported that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin visited the Philippines on Tuesday (July 30). At that time they mentioned giving money for military assistance to Manila.
According to many analysts, the main objective of the US is to put China in a ‘strategic challenge’. That is why Washington is working to increase its influence in the Philippines.
Blinken held a press conference with Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro. At that time, Blinken said, “The United States is interested in military financing to increase security cooperation in the Philippines.”
The United States believes that the Philippines will be able to increase its military strength through this military assistance.
