After Singapore, EU demands: 527 Indian foods contain cancer ‘poison’

According to the EU report, several harmful substances have been found in at least 527 food items in India; Which can cause serious damage to the human body. Can cause deadly diseases like cancer. Apart from this, the products of several other Indian spice manufacturers including Everest, MDH were found to contain ethylene oxide in excess of prescribed levels. The European Union has expressed deep concern about it. Because the use of ethylene oxide in food is prohibited in EU countries. Already several food consignments from India have been canceled at the border. Several Indian foods have also been withdrawn from the market.

The news daily reported that a few days ago, Singapore’s Food Safety Authority made serious allegations against Everest, an Indian spice manufacturer. Evidence has been found that dangerous levels of pesticides are mixed in the company’s popular ‘Phys Curry’ spice. Due to which the Singapore government issued a statement to stop the import of spices from India. Another Indian spice producer, MDH, has also been accused of mixing harmful ingredients. After this news came to light, the EU’s Food Safety Department conducted tests on Indian food products. After that a report is submitted.

Incidentally, ethylene oxide is commonly used as an agricultural pesticide. Its use in food is prohibited in many countries. In some cases there are exemptions for the use of permissible amounts.

Singapore’s food ministry had alleged that ‘Everest Fish Curry’ spice used more pesticides than allowed. Which is very harmful to human health. Therefore, in the statement to stop the import of spices from India, Singapore said that those who have consumed the spices should consult a doctor.

This time, the European Union’s Food Safety Department made the same claim.
