Al-Aqsa Prayer for Ismail Haniya

Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest mosque of Muslims, remembered Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, a victim of Israeli assassination.

Imam Sheikh Ekrima Sabri spoke about Haniya after Juma prayers on Friday (August 2).

He said, “The residents of Jerusalem are praying for the forgiveness of the martyr. We request Allah to grant Paradise to Ismail Haniya.

Occupying Israeli police have launched an investigation against the al-Aqsa imam for ‘incitement’ after praying for Haniya. Israeli police say they will investigate whether Sabri made any provocative remarks.

Israeli forces arrested a Muslim who was going to offer Friday prayers.

Meanwhile, the body of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was buried in the Lucile Royal Cemetery in Qatar. Earlier today, his funeral was held at Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab, the country’s largest mosque.

Senior Hamas leaders attended Hania’s funeral. Among which was Khalid Mishal. He is expected to succeed Haniya. These Hamas leaders came to the terminal of Doha Airport on Thursday to receive the coffin carrying Haniya.

Ismail Hania was assassinated in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on Wednesday. The day before, he traveled to Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s new president, Massoud Pezheshkian. After the ceremony, Hania went to a guest house in Tehran. He was killed along with one of his bodyguards in a bomb explosion there.

Ismail Haniya’s first funeral was held in Tehran on Thursday. Iran’s supreme religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei presided over it. After the funeral, the coffin carrying his body circled the streets of Tehran.
