Asia affected by heavy rains

The world’s climate is constantly changing due to climate change. Common people’s lives are suffering due to frequent natural disasters. Heavy rainfall has occurred due to monsoonal climate. Landslides and floods are increasing due to excess rainfall. Arable land is being destroyed, crops are being destroyed along with massive loss of life.

Since last month, the weather conditions are not favorable in the South Asian country of China. Typhoon Gaimi hits the western Pacific Ocean. It also affects the Philippines, Taiwan, and China. Heavy rainfall is seen in Hunan province of the country. 15 people died after a house collapsed in Hunan. Authorities in the nearby city of Jixing also said 30 people had died and 35 were missing in the floods. China has recorded 25 major floods this year due to heavy rains. According to statistics in 1998, this is the highest flood in 25 years.
Heavy rains have also affected India. Heavy rains have destroyed tea plantations in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Flat houses along with bridges were also damaged. 308 people were killed in landslides in the state of Kerala. Another 200 people were injured. More deaths were also reported in isolated incidents.
The tropical storm dumped heavy rains in northeastern China on the border with North Korea, overflowing the Yalu River, which divides the two countries.
The East Asian country of North Korea has also been affected by heavy rains. The Yalu river has overflowed due to heavy rains. The rains destroyed 4,100 houses, 3,000 hectares (7,400 acres) of farmland. Roads and railways along with government buildings were submerged in water. However, North Korean state media did not provide any information about the death. Korean military helicopters and navy and other government boats evacuated stranded residents to minimize casualties.

In Pakistan, the city of Lahore has been flooded by record rains. At least three people died in the country on the first day of August. Earlier in July, 99 people lost their lives in various disasters caused by rain. Some parts of Lahore recorded 353 millimeters (14 inches) of rain in a matter of hours, breaking a 44-year-old record. Heavy rains have flooded several hospital wards in the capital of Punjab province. Two children were among the casualties.
