Ceasefire talks in Gaza fail again

A Hamas official told Reuters on Monday that the four-month cease-fire talks in Cairo on the Hamas-Israel conflict have resumed, with no progress.

But earlier on Monday, Egypt’s Al-Cahra News TV channel reported that a compromise had been reached between the representatives participating in the talks and progress had been made in the talks.

CIA director William Barnes arrived in Cairo on Saturday. Following his arrival, Israel and Hamas sent delegations to Egypt on Sunday. It was assumed that Israel would agree to a cease-fire under pressure from the United States. But it didn’t happen.

Israel and Hamas, which have been fighting in the Gaza Strip since last October, have so far failed to resolve differences over their main demands.

Many analysts say that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not seeking a solution to the Hamas-Israel conflict. Because if this war does not stop, he can stay in power for a long time.

Incidentally, the number of Palestinians killed in this war has exceeded 33 thousand.
