Taiwan President Lai Ching Di said that China has no right to represent Taiwan. Because Taipei is in no way subordinate to Beijing.
Turkish news agency Anadolu Agency gave this news in a report.
In his National Day speech to the nation, Lai Ching said, ‘The Republic of China (Taiwan’s official name) and the People’s Republic of China (China) are not subordinate to each other’.
“Democracy and freedom are growing and developing in this land (Taiwan). The People’s Republic of China (China) has no right to represent Taiwan.’
The president of Taiwan believes that China will meet the expectations of the international community as one of the world’s superpowers. He wants China’s role in ending the ongoing war in Ukraine and reducing tensions in the Middle East.
“We hope that China will meet the expectations of the international community, exert its influence and work with other countries to end Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the conflict in the Middle East,” the Taiwanese president said.
“We believe China will accept its international responsibilities and contribute to the peace, security and prosperity of the region and the world together with Taiwan.”
Expressing his willingness to work with China on the basis of cooperation, Lai also said, “We are willing to work with China to combat climate change, combat infectious diseases, and maintain regional security for peace and mutual prosperity for the well-being of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.”
China has been claiming that Taiwan is one of its provinces. Taiwan claims the opposite. According to them, Taiwan was never part of the modern China that emerged after the 1911 revolution. They were not even under the People’s Republic of China established by Mao Zedong in 1949. Others favor integration with China.
Some Western analysts believe that if China takes over Taiwan, the country’s power in the Western Pacific region will increase. However, China has a different opinion on this. The country says its intentions with Taiwan are absolutely peaceful.
