Denying Palestine UN membership is unfair: Turkish Foreign Minister

Türkiye has called on the international community to recognize Palestine as a separate state. At the same time, the country urged to oppose the United States’ veto on the UN proposal for Palestine’s membership.

The news agency Anadolu Agency confirmed the information on Sunday (April 21).

According to the report, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakam Fidan held a joint press conference with Mauritanian Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Marzoug in Istanbul. There he said that it is unfair not to allow Palestine to become a member of the United Nations.

“We call on the international community to oppose this injustice and recognize Palestine as a state,” he said.

Fidan also said that during the meeting with Marzoogh, the ongoing massacre in Gaza was discussed. Said, like Turkey, Mauritania has adopted a sensitive policy regarding the Palestinian issue, especially the situation in Gaza and providing all possible support.

The report also stated that Turkey and Mauritania have always stood by the Palestinians on the Gaza situation and will continue to do so.

Besides, the Turkish Foreign Minister also announced that the efforts of the two countries will continue until the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state for an immediate ceasefire and uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
