The Palestinian people have been fighting against the occupying Israel for decades. But the desired result is not coming. In this case, the treachery of some states is largely responsible. For the Palestinians, on the one hand, the leaders of some Arab states are traitors, on the other hand, the leaders of some Muslim countries are superheroes.

Among them are Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and current Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan and many others.
While Israel is marching in Palestine, destroying cities indiscriminately without caring what anyone says, the Arab countries are not moving forward meaningfully. They are reacting with their own narrow interests in mind, they are not reacting from a moral standpoint in any way. Its proof is that Arab countries are not severing relations with Tel Aviv even after Israel has committed so many crimes.

There are two reasons for this trend of Arab countries. Mainly because Arab leaders fear Israel’s military might; Especially since Israel is a de facto nuclear power country, their fear is high.

The second reason is that these rulers do not want to upset the Western powers in any way. As these rulers well understand, Israel is an imperialist partner of the West. They have calculated everything and come to the conclusion that since they cannot stand against US power, there is a lot of financial gain in keeping up with the West, so it is safer to follow the West’s word.

However, going against this trend, leaders like Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have stood by the Palestinians. Türkiye has imposed a total trade embargo on Israel over the Gaza war. The Erdogan government has made clear that the embargo will continue until Israel allows aid to reach Gaza.

Reacting strongly to the sanctions, Israel has called on the US and Europe to impose counter-sanctions on Turkey. Within days of the Turkish sanctions, Israel’s cabinet decided to launch a ground operation against displaced Palestinians in Gaza in Rafah. The OIC then called for sanctions against Israel. But the initiative of Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia to implement it is still not seen.

It is the first time that Türkiye has decided to impose such extensive economic sanctions on a country and implemented them. All of the country’s ports and trade areas are closed to Israel. Erdogan is also expected to close Turkish airspace, the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus strait. Carrying out this move would open a historic question mark and create an ‘existential crisis’ for Israel. Not only that, Erdoğan also contributed to Palestine in the international arena and provided medical treatment to thousands of Hamas fighters in Turkey.

Iran, one of the most powerful countries in the Middle East, is also fighting for the Palestinians. The country has supported the Palestinians with weapons and money, as well as engaging Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthis, and Iraq’s Kataib Hezbollah in the war against Israel.

Qatar, the wealthiest country in the region, stands by the Palestinians despite the treachery of most of the countries in the Middle East. The country’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has provided massive financial aid to the Palestinians, as well as providing safe haven to top leaders of the pro-independence armed group Hamas.

Meanwhile, Malaysia is not sitting either. The Prime Minister of the country, Anwar Ibrahim, expressed his support by meeting directly with the leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas. Recently, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met the political leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniya, in Qatar. When some local media published the pictures, Facebook removed the posts. In this, the Malaysian government, a vocal supporter of the Palestinians, strongly criticized it.

In a letter sent to Meta, Malaysia demanded an explanation for the removal of the Prime Minister’s photos and warned that they would be punished in Malaysia if pro-Palestinian content was blocked on their platform. After the warning, a Meta spokesperson admitted it was a mistake to remove the two posts. They have been brought back. In addition, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is also very vocal in favor of the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, after the new Israeli massacre of Palestinians started last year, South Africa, the strongest country in Africa, is also very vocal. The country severed diplomatic relations with barbaric Israel to protest the genocide in Palestine and filed a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
