Enemy not sincere in ceasefire talks: Hamas

A senior Hamas official, Osama Hamdan, has said that the enemy is not sincere in ceasefire talks in the war-torn Gaza Strip.

According to the Hamas leader, the enemy wants to present a plan that will make them appear victorious. However, they are not sincere in peace talks.

The IRNA news agency reported this information on Saturday (November 2) citing Shehab News Agency.

Hamdan said, “History proves that Palestinian freedom fighters and members of the resistance organizations never surrender.”

At the same time, he noted that “the Israeli enemy also knows that they are not capable of breaking the will of the Palestinian people and Hamas.”

Any plan must ensure a final end to the war and is not acceptable as a temporary ceasefire, Hamdan added.

The top Hamas official also noted that despite the new face in the US presidential election, the US strategic support for the belligerent Israeli occupiers will remain unchanged.

The war that began on October 7, 2023, has killed more than 43,000 people in Gaza, most of whom are women and children. In addition, about 80 percent of Gaza’s residential areas and infrastructure have been destroyed.

The war in Gaza has only brought famine and unprecedented suffering, which is threatening the lives of the people there.

The UN Security Council has called for an immediate ceasefire, but Israel has ignored this proposal. As a result, almost the entire population of Gaza has been displaced and the blockade of food, water, medicine and other essential goods has led to an extreme crisis.

Despite the US, Egypt and Qatar’s efforts to broker a ceasefire and prisoner exchange, these efforts have not been successful due to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to continue the war.

Meanwhile, a genocide case has been launched at the International Court of Justice for Israel’s actions.
