Israel has attacked about 10 installations of the armed Islamic group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The Israeli military (IDF) said in a statement on Tuesday (July 30) that it attacked about 10 Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon overnight. A fighter of the armed group was killed.
The Israeli military also said it struck a Hezbollah weapons depot, terrorist infrastructure, military infrastructure and a rocket launcher.
In recent times, there has been intense tension between the Israeli forces and the Hezbollah organization based in Lebanon. As a result, there are fears that Israel and Hezbollah could engage in a full-scale war at any moment.
Last Saturday (July 27) 12 people, including children, were killed in a rocket attack in the Golan Valley occupied by Israel. This is the deadliest attack in Israeli-occupied territories since the October 7 attack by Hamas. At least 29 people were injured in the rocket attack on a football field in the village of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights. The attack comes after four members of the armed group were killed in an Israeli strike in Lebanon.
That is why Israel is blaming Hezbollah for this attack. However, the Iran-backed armed group has denied the allegations.
In a statement, they said, some enemy media are accusing us of the attack on Majdal Shams. We categorically deny this allegation. Our armed wing, the Islamic Resistance, has nothing to do with this incident. However, there are fears that the tension may increase due to Israel’s counter-attacks on various installations of Hezbollah.
Due to this tension, there is a fear of starting a full-scale war between the two sides at any time. The Israeli cabinet approved the response to the attack on the Golan Valley last Sunday.
In the meantime, local time on Sunday morning, the Israeli military said that they had attacked seven positions of Hezbollah deep inside the Lebanese territory. It is not yet clear how many casualties have occurred in these attacks.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also warned that Hezbollah will pay a heavy price for the attack on the Golan Heights. According to a statement issued by his office, Netanyahu told the local community leader that Israel will not go unanswered for this killing and that Hezbollah will pay a heavy price and it will be unprecedented.
After a few hours of his warning, attacks on various facilities of Hizbollah started happening. Israeli forces claimed they had struck terrorist targets.
